The process of producing biofuel does not have to undergo any transesterification which normally uses methanol derives from petroleum sources and energy intensive. Turning palm biodiesel to meet EN14214 with minus 21C pour point requires the said methyl ester to be fractionated twice and this process is very energy intensive and very costly. A Revolutionary Jatropha nano-emulsion B20 Biofuel (for both diesel and petrol) is taking the lead.

BIONAS have developed a biofuel component which is 100% biodegradable, zero sulfur, renewable, sustainable and green. Our nano-emulsion B20 Biofuel is derived from Jatropha, the 2nd generation biofuel feedstock which is non-food and environmental-friendly.

The base oil of our emulsified B20 Biofuel is processed Jatropha oil emulsified with some water to yield a 100% biodegradable fuel component. It is blended into normal diesel to yield an emulsified diesel which can make biodiesel obsolete (neat biodiesel from transesterification process is very costly, increase NOx and with 10% lower energy content).

Water in fuel/diesel yields the following effect:
1.. Water vaporization increases fuel dispersion in the form of smaller droplets.
2.. Contact surface between fuel and air is increased.
  3.. Combustion is more efficient.
4.. The explosion of excess water into steam and the splitting of water into H2 and O2 will increase power and fuel economy.
5.. Reduces combustion temperature peak.(lowers NOx)
6.. Particulate formation is reduced (lowers PM)
7.. Lower emissions: Up to 25% Nox reduction, up to 60% PM reduction, upto 80% smoke reduction, up to 5% CO2 reduction.
  8.. Better lubricity
  9.. Increased thermal efficiency.

Note: Emulsified diesel/fuel is the only emission-control fuel technology that simultaneously lowers both PM and NOx.

There are hundreds of patents on emulsified fuel and numerous successful tests conducted world-wide. Lubrizol and Chevron has been selling emulsifier and emulsified fuel and having thousands of vehicles running on them. These emulsified fuels have received certifications from vehicle manufacturers like Caterpillar and others. However, those emulsified fuel/diesel is not biodegradable and milky colour.
