The main competitor of Jatropha Oil is palm oil but while palm oil is currently prized as a future source for biodiesel, it is increasingly in the spotlight for environmental issues. Given that Jatropha is a non-edible, its cultivation doesn't impact the supply or prices of food crops and most importantly unfreeze in cold weather. As such Jatropha appears to be the best feedstock for Bio Diesel production.
